West Buckland joins the A level record breakers

WEST Buckland School Sixth Form students were also among the record breakers after a record 78 per cent of them passed all exams at A*, A and B grades.

It is the fifth successive year at the school when A* to B grades have exceeded 70 per cent. A total of 13.6 per cent were passed at A* while 51.8 of all exams were passed at A* and A grades. The overall pass rate was 99.5.

All students at the school took at least two A levels, with a third of these 62 students achieving three A grades or better.

A special mention for outstanding achievement goes to Arthur Sze with a remarkable four A* grades and a B grade while Jack Slater achieved three A* grades plus an A. Two A* plus an A grade each were earned by Helen Batstone, Oli Cairns, Tom Mitcham and James Popplewell.

Headmaster John Vick said: “These are truly exceptional results. Our students are entitled to be very proud of their achievements. Their hard work and the excellent teaching and personal support they have received at West Buckland School mean that all those seeking university places this year should achieve their goals.”
