MUCH-NEEDED new equipment is on the way to Sticklepath Youth Club after a £1,000 grant from their local councillors.A cheque was presented to club members by Cllrs Des Brailey and Silvia Harrison after donating the money from their Community Grants budgets. The youth club has put together a list of things they wish to buy, including volleyball nets and balls, a CD player, music decks and board games. "We fully support this youth club scheme," said Cllr Brailey."Young people had little to do and nowhere to go until the club was opened. Both Jenny Jeffery and Gay Karczmarz at the club have put a tremendous amount of time and effort into this and it is also supported by our local police officers."Jenny, the youth club leader, added: "It has helped young people to make friends, behave better in the local area and we have lots of fun."This year North Devon Council is providing £80,000 of funding to community and voluntary groups or organisations through Community Councillor Grants. Each Councillor has £2,000 to spend on projects within their electoral ward.
