Walkers winched to safety at Clovelly

Walkers rescued: Two walkers were winched to safety by the Chivenor search and rescue helicopter on Monday afternoon after becoming cut off by the tide near Clovelly.

The Clovelly RNLI inshore lifeboat was launched to assist the pair, who are from Torrington, about two miles along the coast from the village just after 3pm.

A crew member was sent ashore but due to the rocky coastline it was deemed too dangerous to attempt a rescue and RAF Helicopter Rescue 169 from RMB Chivenor was soon on scene to winch the walkers plus the crewman to safety.
