Annual event promises to be bigger than ever - and organisers need volunteers to help it run smoothly.

Bideford 500 is planning the biggest and best Heritage Day yet in July – but it needs volunteers to help put it all together.

The free family event will take place on July 4 and entertainment will include medieval armed combat, falconry and a chance to have a go at archery.

There will also be heritage walks; living history; trepanning; free heritage tours around the town in a vintage 1950s bus; and Victorian seaside entertainment.

Volunteers are needed to help steward the event.

They don’t need to dress up in costume, although can if they wish, and will be given training on the morning of the show.

They will also be given lunch and refreshments.

If you’re interested in helping out, get in touch with David Howell at Bideford 500 on or call 01237 421347.
