VOLUNTEERS at Ilfracombe charity TLC have paused - briefly - in their work, to thank all those who supported the annual toy appeal and Christmas Carnival. Each year the charity collects donations of good quality toys and distributes them to needy local children who might otherwise not receive many presents.Chris Harmer at TLC said everything had gone out on schedule this year and thanked local businesses Coutant Lambda and Pall Europe for their help. The three supermarkets, Co-op, Tesco and Somerfield let TLC put collecting tubs on their premises, while Co-op provided a room to sort and wrap presents.Storehouse Church in Bideford invited TLC members to a Christmas event, where the congregation made donations of presents and monies. On Christmas Eve, Ilfracombe's festive carnival saw Mayor and Mayoress, John and Patricia Swan, join Father Christmas, Town Crier Roy Goodwin, TLC Majorettes, Brownies and more for the annual parade."A big thank you to all who made Christmas a bit special for the children," said Chris. If a small group needs this kind of a helping hand, contact TLC at 3 Portland Street, or call (01271) 866315.
