Firs stage of major Barnstaple development will be completed by Christmas 2016

An artist's impression has been released showing how the completed Anchorwood Bank site will look.

Over the next five years, owners North Devon Homes and Wessex Investors intend to create an exciting new riverside quarter for living, shopping and relaxing right next to the town centre, along with hundreds of new jobs.

The view is taken from the Taw Bridge and shows new homes along the riverside broken by a central park, which joins the riverside walkway to the centre of the development.

Beyond the ASDA is the proposed new retail and food area and beyond that still, adjacent to Long Bridge, the Oliver Buildings.

The developers will be asking for the public's views at a consultation on Saturday, September 5, to be held at Barnstaple Guildhall from 10am-4pm.

Some of the shops and restaurants which will be opening are also expected to be announced.
