LOCAL schoolchildren could get the chance to show off their footballing skills to an England World Cup-winning football legend at a tournament taking place in Barnstaple next month.Organisers McDonald's hope that one of the firm's sporting ambassadors, 1966 star Sir Geoff Hurst MBE, will be able to present the prizes to the winning team.Local franchise holder David Hunt said eight primary school teams would be taking part in the McDonald's North Devon Schools Cup five-a-side tournament, being held at Park School during half-term week on Friday, May 29.It is being organised by McDonald's Eastern Avenue restaurant assistant manager, Joel Hammett, as part of the company's involvement in grass roots sports programmes."So far, five teams have signed up to take part and we're waiting on news from a further three," he said."It should be a great event and if Sir Geoff comes down to present the prizes, that will be the icing on the cake.
