A Barnstaple woman celebrated her 100th birthday today (Tuesday) with a bit of a pampering.
Violet Joselin visited the Petroc Hair and Beauty Academy last week before she turned 100.
Violet has used the college’s services for more than 10 years, starting in its Cross Street Salon, before moving over to the Hair Academy on its Brannams Campus, and then to the new Lifestyle Centre.
She said: “The facilities here are just marvellous and everything is just right.
“The students are very attentive with excellent supervision. I like it here very much”.
Violet is a former teacher, having taught a range of general subjects at secondary level, and supporting local students is very important to her.
Claire Palmer, the Hair and Beauty curriculum team leader, said: “She’s a wonderful lady and still bright as a button constantly telling our students stories about her life gone by.
“They all love her and make sure she has a great time whenever she comes.
“They walk her to and from her car as she still drives to the college for her fortnightly appointment.”
Violet was presented with a cake and flowers from the students to celebrate her birthday.
