VANDALS have been at work at the site of Torrington Cavaliers' latest charity bonfire.

An eyecatching advertising board painted by Cavalier Roger Davies and sited at the top of the Commons has been broken from its supports and thrown face down on the bank near the road.

Cavaliers' chairman Chris Stacey said they would like to hear from anyone who might have any information about this incident or who was involved. "This has never happened before and it really does hit the Cavaliers' building team hard, so that they sometimes ask what is the point of continuing?" he said. The bonfire is due to be lit on August 28 next year.
