Police were called to the scene about a mile outside of Barnstaple on the Bideford-bound carriageway.

A MOTORCYCLIST was taken to hospital on Monday after a collision on the A39 just outside of Barnstaple.

Police were called to the scene at around 2.10pm on the Bideford-bound carriageway.

They discovered the injured man at the Rooks Bridge picnic area along with a silver scooter registered to Braunton.

A police spokesman said the man, who was the only person involved in the collision, was taken to hospital to be checked out.
