THE Crown Estate has confirmed it will name its preferred bidder for the �3.8billion Atlantic Array project this week.

Ed Miliband MP, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, will announce the successful company at the University of Exeter on Friday morning.

The winning developer will be given permission to build 350 turbines in an area of the Bristol Channel 15km to the north of Lundy Island.

The Atlantic Array proposal is one of nine offshore wind zones around the UK being granted development rights by the Crown Estate, a Government agency that owns the seabed around Britain.
