Underpass sex attack: CCTV footage released

Police want to locate man filmed boarding a train shortly after incident.

POLICE have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to in connection with a sex attack in Barnstaple.

A 21-year-old woman was subjected to a terrifying sexual assault close to the underpass at the bottom of Old Sticklepath Hill on November 21 last year.

The offender is believed to have used baby wipes and a form of disinfectant gel during the attack.

Detectives investigating the case want to identify and locate a man seen at Barnstaple Railway Station at around 7pm, approximated half-an-hour after the incident is alleged to have taken place.

The man can be seen on the platform and a short while later gets onto the train, possibly heading to Exeter.

Police are appealing to the public to assist them in trying to identify the man so that he can be eliminated from their enquiries.
