SOUTH Molton town council is seeking to let its former town council offices at 1 East Street. The building, which also used to house the town's library, has been vacant since the council moved into brand new purpose-build premises at the Amory Centre in November last year. The tourist information office is the only facility to still use the building. The council's land agent, Jeremy Holtom, has told councillors that meetings were being set up with various housing associations with a possible view to redeveloping the building for use as sheltered housing. "The building is one of the town council's main assets and is now mostly vacant apart from the tourist information centre," Mr Holtom told councillors."The council needs to form a plan quickly for its future or get an income stream in by letting out the premises."We will be meeting with housing authorities later this week and are working to see how we can get an income stream in as quickly as possible.
