Crews were called out to two lunchtime fires in the Bideford area.

FIRE fighters were called out to two kitchen fires in Bideford on Christmas Day (Weds).

The first callout came at around 12.50pm in Clovelly Close, with reports of a smoke coming from a window.

Crews found there has been a small fire involving a saucepan left on the hob in the kitchen.

Then at 2.20pm, there was a callout from a house in Meeting Street stating there was a fire in the kitchen and the house had been evacuated.

Three fire engines from Bideford and Appledore were called to the scene and found a fire in the ground floor kitchen.

They set to work extinguishing the fire using two breathing apparatus sets, a hose reel jet and a main jet.
