Two authors from the same village will be appearing at the Ruby Country Market at Hatherleigh on Saturday (March 30).

Liz Shakespeare and Pamela Vass from Littleham will both be available to sign copies of their books.

The inspiration for Liz’s books comes from the North Devon countryside and the strong historical identity of the area.

Her latest book The Turning of the Tide tells the true story of a young Clovelly mother who was confined in Bideford Workhouse in the 1870s until helped by a local doctor. Her previous books are Fever: A Story from a Devon Churchyard and The Memory Be Green: An Oral History of a Devon Village.

Pamela’s book Seeds of Doubt is a powerful blend of fact and fiction based on the Lynmouth flood disaster of 1952.
