The A361 is currently closed in both directions due to a collision near Braunton and two air ambulances have landed at the scene. Keep checking back for the latest updates here as we have it.

Reports are coming in of a collision on the A361 at Knowle this afternoon (Tuesday).

Police were called to Stony Bridge at Braunton just before 3pm to reports of a single vehicle collision where the car had reportedly rolled off the road.

There is very heavy traffic in the area and the road is closed in both directions.

An eye-witness said two Devon Air Ambulances are in attendance.

A third helicopter, thought to be the police helicopter, is also in attendance.

One woman is thought to be injured with leg and head injuries and the road has been closed for the air ambulances to land.

The road closure is at Halsinger Cross and Mullacott Cross and Highways has put on diversions.

Fire fighters from South Molton, who were on standby at Barnstaple, and Woolacombe attended the scene.

There were intially reports there was someone trapped in the car but on arrival paramedics were treating one casualty.

Crews made the vehicle safe and assisted paramedics before leaving duty of care with the police.

Update 5.30pm: Police report one female casualty has been taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

Update 5.32pm: Traffic in the area is said to be ‘at a standstill’.
