Truckers deliver big cheques to charities

SOUTH West Truckers delivered charity cheques totalling �4,089.54p at their annual Country and Western evening.

The Truckers raised �650 at a ferret race evening, which was presented by club president Keith Palfreyman to Dennis Westrip on behalf of Multiple System Atrophy.

He presented a further �1,200 raised by a sponsored walk to Sheila Blackmore and John Ruston on behalf of the Upper GI Cancer Support Group.

Club PRO Eddie White presented a cheque for �1,279.54p, to Sharon Coles, Nicola Whitbread, Sarah Reid and Dianne Brook from Highfield House Child Development Centre. The money was the remainder of that raised for the North Devon Area Truckers’ annual children’s convoy and Eddie was joined by Sam Hailstone of Table Table Barum Gate, the event’s main sponsors.

Further cheques were �550 raised at Truckfest by Somerset Area Truckers and �410 raised at a fun day by Cornwall Area Truckers. Both went to the Children’s Hospice South West.
