Troops will parade through Braunton

THE people of Braunton will be welcoming the troops back from Afghanistan with a home coming parade on Wednesday of next week (April 8.)The members of 24 Commando Engineering regiment based at RMB Chivenor will be forming up in the overflow area of Caen Street car park at around 2.30pm.Senior officers will present them with medals in the presence of local dignitaries and then at approximately 3.15pm the regiment will march through Braunton and make its way to St Brannocks Church for a Service of Thanksgiving.As many people as possible have been urged to welcome the troops safely home by lining Caen Street and Chaloners Road as they parade past. Space inside the church is expected to be limited but all are welcome to turn out to see the parade arrive and listen to the service from outside.Villagers are advised the overflow section of the car park will be closed the day before the parade for a tidy up, but the main section will be open.
