Shebbear College has confirmed the death of young English teacher Charlotte Simpson, 24, following collision on Friday.

Tributes have been paid to a young Shebbear College teacher who has died following a collision on Friday.

English teacher Charlotte Simpson, 24, was involved in the collision near Halwill and was taken to Derriford Hospital.

She remained in a critical condition over the weekend and it is understood she died yesterday (Monday) afternoon.

A statement on the Shebbear College Facebook page yesterday said: “It is with deepest regret that we have to announce that Miss Charlotte Simpson has passed away this afternoon.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this time.

“As during today, there will be support in place for the school community in the days and weeks ahead.”

Tributes underneath the statement called Charlotte a ‘bright, talented and beautiful young woman.”

Friends and colleagues offered their ‘deepest sympathies’ to her family and friends, as well as school pupils.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and in particular to anyone who may have seen a VW Golf and Lexus being driven on the A3079 the collision at around 4.30pm.
