POLICE have issued a warning to thieves who stole copper cabling from a former milk factory in the town.

Officers were alerted to the thefts from an electrical substation at the site at Torridge Vale, on Thursday afternoon (December 10).

Thieves ignored warning signs to climb the fence at the functioning substation.

Insp Andrew Webber said: "The people who took the cables should be aware that they faced a real danger of death.

"The cables can carry up to 800amps. Police will be continuing to carry out an investigation into the theft.
