Torrington RFC’s clubhouse has been destroyed by vandals, with every window, picture frames, televisions and memorabilia smashed.

Torrington Rugby Club's clubhouse has been destroyed by vandals overnight.

Club supporters turned up at Torrington RFC this morning to find every window of the clubhouse smashed.

Damage was also done to buildings at the football club.

Shaun Kenneally, Torridge sector inspector and supporter of the club, said he had been helping clear up the damage this morning.

He said: "They've broken glass frames and pictures, as well as memorabilia.

"It's going to upset a lot of people in the town. I don't know how much damage has been done but it's going to add up to a lot."

This morning Torrington RFC posted photos of the damage on Facebook.

A statement said: "This is what we're waking up to this morning. Between 9-10pm last night, this mindless vandalism took place.

"Every window of the clubhouse and changing rooms, lights, sensors, TVs, team photos, both junior and senior teams have been smashed.

"Lots of work has been carried out throughout summer to keep the club tidy and get ready for the new season which starts tomorrow.

"This is a community club which is a great venue that is open for the whole town to use.

"If you hear anything, please contact the police."

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101.
