A Torrington slimmer who transformed her life by losing more than three stone has decided to change careers to help others. Lisa Tucker joined the Torrington Slimming World group three years ago, and said she hated the way she looked. Since then she has lost three stone, eight-and-a-half-pounds, and is starting up her own Slimming World group. She said: Being in my twenties, I felt full of different emotions. My husband and I had bought our first home together, got married and had two beautiful children. But while all these life-changing things were happening, I was constantly yo-yo dieting: losing weight to get married, then falling pregnant with my eldest and gaining four stone, then losing all my pregnancy weight only to put it back on again with my youngest. I now look back on the time when my children were toddlers and babies and feel like that wasnt really me. I hated the way I looked, and what came with being bigger was the embarrassing sweating. It was awful and I would go into sweats just by walking to town or to my mums, which is only a 10 minute walk up the road. Lisa knew something had to change and decided to give Slimming World a go. She was nervous at first, but said she was instantly put at ease and was determined to stick to it. As she neared her target weight, Lisa felt more confident and started exercising as well, and now feels she wants to give something back. Her own new group in Torrington, at the Howe Concert Hall, will start on on Tuesday, May 9, at 7.30pm.
