Torrington growers lift silver gilt

Torrington-in-Bloom Association received a silver-gilt award at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom, South West Region, presentation ceremony in Newquay.

The award was presented by TV gardening presenter Toby Buckland to the Mayor and Mayoress Cllr Richard and Mrs Helen Rumbold, Torrington-in-Bloom chairman Tony Welch and members Cherry Hammon, Barry Cubitt and Beth McClure.

Mr Welch said:”We are very pleased to receive silver-gilt, which is in recognition of the town’s hard work over the past year to improve the ambience and environment for everyone who lives, works or visits Torrington. It’s a step up from silver last year and we are looking forward to continuing the improvement in 2012. Torrington-in- Bloom would like to thank all those who sponsored and supported our efforts this year. It is much appreciated. Next year is Olympics year – can Torrington get a gold?”
