A French flavour has come to Torrington’s shopping streets with the opening of new business Studio C.

After three years in France, browsing and buying the street markets, retired archaeologist Richard White and retired infant teacher Judy Cull are settling down in Torrington and selling off the eclectic and interesting mix of goods they have collected.

While most is from France, there are also articles to be found from Italy, Mexico, China and other places.

They have opened their shop in a former newsagents premises opposite The Plough arts centre, which had been closed for some years, and will be continuing to add to their stock with return trips to France and augmented by compatible goods bought in this country.

“The people of Torrington have given us a real welcome. It is an interesting and vibrant market town and we have no fear about opening a new business in the midst of a recession, said Richard.

The new shop was officially opened in a ceremony last week performed by the Mayor and Mayoress of Torrington, Richard and Helen Rumbold.
