Torrington school given recognition for second outstanding report by Church of England in a row.

A Torrington school is celebrating after an outstanding report by the Church of England.

Great Torrington Bluecoats had a National Society Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools last month.

The report by The Reverend David Hatrey said the school was ‘outstanding’ for the second time.

He said Bluecoats had ‘well established’ Christian values and a ‘strong and sensitive’ leadership.

Rev Hatrey wrote: “Children support one another, brushing away worries of the other, helping them to be calm and reflect.”

He added: “Not only does the school nurture the wellbeing of the children, this extends into excellent relationships with parents and support for them when needed.”

Angela Fleming, Bluecoats headteacher, said: “We are delighted that Bluecoats has been recognised as an outstanding church school.

“The report reflects the spiritual vibrancy of our school community and is a credit to everyone involved.”
