A creative crafts day at the Burton Art Gallery and Museum in Bideford was one of the half-term events organised by Torridge District Council. The all-day event for the youngsters was organised by the council's health and recreation officer, James Jarroudi. Crafts tutor Jo Cole taught them how to make paper butterflies, flowers and vases using recycled juice cartons and scrap paper - in plenty of time for Mother's Day.Jo said: "The children were an absolute delight to teach - enthusiastic, very receptive and the quality of their creations was amazing!" James Jarroudi said: "This culture and leisure day was really enjoyable. The children threw themselves in to both the physical activities in the park in the morning and the craft aspects in the afternoon. All of them can be proud of the way they conducted themselves and with the outcome of their crafts."And Councillor Roger Johnson said: "As Lead member for Youth and Play I am delighted to see our staff organising successful, interesting and challenging activities for the youth of Torridge."For more information about further Torridge Sports Programs, contact the Culture and Leisure Team on 01237 428737.
