BIDEFORD Cricket Club has received a grant of 2,000 from Torridge District Council towards the costs of new fencing at its Westward Ho! ground.

Club chairman Brian Champion said: "The new fencing means we can continue to play cricket here safely and with a Colts' membership of more than 70 children, the future of the club is looking very positive."

Applications for the Community Grants Scheme are invited from local voluntary and community groups within the Torridge district. The scheme supports many different projects, including the costs for new community events, funding of new community based projects, or purchase of equipment to enable a local organisation to develop.
