TOP Gear met the Royal Marines on Instow beach today (Friday) and crowds gathered to watch the spectacle. The Top Gear team worked with the Marines in filming presenter Jeremy Clarkson testing the new Ford Fiesta. He drove the striking green Fiesta from a military landing craft for a drive on the beach. At the same time, Marines from the nearby Amphibious Trials and Training establishment at Instow and others from Taunton and Plymouth carried out exercises on the beach, with smoke, guns and landing helicopters adding to the scene. It is understood the idea originated from the Marines, who contacted Top Gear and that Instow was chosen as providing the necessary expertise, conditions and space. The film is expected to feature in the next to last episode of the present BBC 2 Top Gear series.Pictures www.guyharrop.com
