Top award for Bideford Rotarians

TWO members of Bideford Bridge Rotary Club received an exceptional gift at Christmas with the award of Paul Harris Fellowship.

Only those who have made an exceptional contribution to the ideals of the Rotary organisation may be nominated for this honour, which is the highest that Rotary International can award.

Jeremy Drakeford and Geoff Day were each nominated by their Bideford colleagues for the selfless service they have given to Rotary over many years.

Jeremy of Yarnscombe joined the club in 2001, serving as secretary from 2005-07 and chairman of Youth Activities and is currently the club’s IT officer.

Geoff was one of the club’s founder members in 1987. He was club president in 1991/92, district conference treasurer 1995/96, manager of the district conference 1998/99 to 2000/01 and district auditor. Since 1993 he has been the club’s auditor and examiner of the club accounts. He has served on all of the club’s sub-committees and club council over the years and is currently the club’s bulletin editor.
