SEVERAL local services are joining up at the North Devon Show this year on one big pitch.

For the first time North Devon Council, Torridge District Council, North Devon Plus and North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and Biosphere Teams are all attending the show together.

The teams will be working alongside one another making it easy for visitors to find out about key council services, promoting North Devon, leading a healthy lifestyle and grants to help protect the environment and biodiversity.

A variety of free activities and events will be taking place throughout the day across the stands, which include:

* cooking demonstrations

* vintage equipment from 'The Museum of British Surfing'

* presentation of the Biosphere Awards for Sustainability

* competitions with great prizes for all ages

Representatives from each organisation will also be available all day to answer any questions and provide advice about their services.

Councillor James Morrish, Leader of Torridge District Councils said: "At Torridge we put our public at the heart of every decision we make. At this year's North Devon Show we are very much looking to get involved with our residents through a whole variety of interactive activities that will be taking place at our stand. The North Devon Show is a great centrepiece for all things wonderful about our great rural area."

Councillor Des Brailey, Leader of North Devon Council, said: "The show is a fantastic opportunity to get out and meet the people of North Devon. We learn so much about what local people want from their council at events like these - there's plenty to keep the whole family entertained so come along and talk to us."

This year's show is taking place on Wednesday, August 4 on the new venue at Umberleigh Barton Farm.
