SIR - UKIP's David Beagley's letter last week instructed us all to "stand up and be counted" - so here goes! Like many others, I'm fed up with europhiles who are happy to give away our freedoms and democracy to an unaccountable body in Strasbourg. I'm fed up with the corruption; the gravy train ethics; the insatiable greed of politicians, bankers & power companies. I'm fed up with these privileged fat cats constantly lecturing the rest of us to 'tighten our belts', 'switch off a light', and 'turn down our heating' (which we are being indoctrinated to believe will save the planet) while they go jetting round the world! I'm tired of hearing trendy jargon like 'carbon footprints', 'sustainability', 'carbon trading' from "greenies" like developers, planners, big business - and power companies who are the biggest producers of CO2 emissions - as well as leading turbine developers)! As for the new religion of global warming, I suspect we will all drown under rising levels of hypocrisy and self-interest long before so-called "experts" dire warnings become reality. But most of all I am absolutely sick to death of the disinformation, ignorance and downright lies being touted around in support of bird slicing machines euphemistically called wind farms. I am honestly more afraid of industrial turbines covering every green and tranquil area in England's much loved and precious landscapes than the constant scare mongering as to what might happen in the future.
