FOUR fire appliances from Bideford and Barnstaple were called to the scene of a road accident involving three cars near the Roundswell Roundabout on the A39 Link Road yesterday (Wednesday) evening.

Three men trapped in their cars were released by fire and rescue crews using cutting tools and taken to the North Devon District Hospital. A dog had also to be released from one of the cars.

The cars involved were an Audi A4, a Peugeot 206 and a Renault Clio.

The incident took place at around 5.20pm and part of the roadway was closed for two hours.
