North Devon crews have responded to three shouts this weekend.

The latest call out was this morning after a bathroom was damaged in a small fire in Pilton Street, Barnstaple.

Barnstaple Fire Station sent two engines to the road shortly before 2.20am this morning after reports of a fire in the address's bathroom.

The crew extinguished flames with a hose reel jet. The fire caused a small amount of damage.

Bideford crews were also in action twice yesterday (Saturday) attending incidents involving a car and a shed.

Both crews were sent to Acre Road, Horns Cross, at 3.44am following reports of a shed on fire.

The firefighters used one hose reel jet, one safety jet and two breathing apparatus to put the flames out.

A fire service spokesman said: "The shed was severely damaged by fire and the cause of this fire is believed to be accidental. The crew made the area safe and returned home station."

In the afternoon, a crew responded to a shout that a vehicle was on fire in Instow.

They arrived at Marine Parade at 11.22am to find the car engine was alight, before extinguishing it with a hose reel jet.

The crew confirmed the fire was accidental and left the duty of care with the owner.
