A THIRD 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in the Kenwith Valley area of Bideford on Monday night.

The youth is currently in custody in Barnstaple Police Station, while the two youths previously arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm have been released on police bail until Wednesday, September 2.

A 38-year-old local man remains seriously ill in Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, after being attacked at around 7pm, near to Northam Road.

Police have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses. A spokesman said: "We urgently need to speak with anyone who was in this location between 6.30pm and 8pm on Monday night.

"We know that this is a popular spot for people out walking their dogs and would appeal to anyone who knows or saw anything untoward to please come forward and speak to us."
