People looking for things to do and iconic events to attend are being urged to pick up their copy of a free Summer in Barnstaple brochure to find out what’s going on and where in the weeks ahead.
The brochure has been produced by the Flourishing Barnstaple team, and is available free from today (Wednesday, June 18).
After the success of Barnstaple’s Christmas brochure, the Flourishing Barnstaple team has worked with the town's events group and reached out to local organisations to advertise more than 150 summer events.
It’s packed with information on performances, workshops, activities for all ages and the popular annual events held in the town, from the Diversity Festival this Saturday (June 21) to Fringe Theatrefest from June 26 to 29 and right through to Refugee Week events and Barnstaple Fair and Carnival in September.
The brochure is available online, from the Flourishing Barnstaple stall in Barnstaple Pannier Market on Friday, June 27, or in the following locations from this week: Barnstaple Pannier Market, Barnstaple Library, Queen's Theatre, The Museum of Barnstaple & North Devon, St Anne's Chapel, Barnstaple Town Council, and The Town Centre Hub at Green Lanes.
Cultural producer Lee Baxendale said: “With so many events happening across the town, including performances, workshops, family events and much more, it’s great to be able to pull them all together in one place.
“Barnstaple has a lot to offer the community and tourists alike and this has been a great opportunity to showcase what is going on in the town.”
The brochure has been created by Flourishing Barnstaple and Barnstaple Events team, which is made up of events organisers and venues from across the town, who meet to develop opportunities to work together in creating a strong cultural output for Barnstaple.
More information on how to get involved in this group is available by emailing culture@northdevon.gov.uk.
Flourishing Barnstaple is a North Devon Council initiative funded by the government’s Cultural Development Fund and administered by Arts Council England.
