Teenager in custody after Ilfracombe shooting

A young woman received minor injuries after an incident involving an air weapon yesterday (Tuesday).

A TEENAGER is in police custody after a young woman was shot with an air weapon in Ilfracombe yesterday evening (Tuesday).

Police were called to the scene at the war memorial on St Brannock’s Road around 8.40pm.

They arrested three men at the scene and seized the weapon.

Two men were released without charge and a 17-year-old is currently in police custody on suspicion of causing assault and being in possession of a loaded air weapon in a public place.

The 18-year-old victim was taken to North Devon District Hospital with a minor injury to her back.

A police spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
