Teddy bear fans young and old are being invited to enjoy a street party with a difference in Barnstaple next month. Tables will be laid out along Butchers Row for a teddy bears picnic on August 13. Families are being invited to grab their favourite cuddly toys and a picnic and join in a day full of fun and food. Alternatively, they can sample some of the local produce on offer in the market or from one of the many shops along the historic town centre street. Entertainment will include a find the teddy bears competition in the pannier market; Punch and Judy shows; balloon magic tricks; messy play; face painting; glitter tattoos; and music throughout the day. The event is being organised by Barnstaple Town Centre Management and pannier market traders. Town centre manager Hannah Harrington said: Since the original song was written in 1907, teddy bear picnics have been popular throughout the world. We are planning our family event to celebrate the summer in Barnstaple and we hope that lots of people and their teddies are able to attend.Click here to return to our homepage for more North Devon news.
