HUNDREDS of Tarka Housing tenants on Torridgeside have new kitchens, bathrooms and more energy-efficient homes as Tarka's successful first year Home Improvement Programme draws to a close. But this is just the beginning. Following a tender process led by tenants who were fully involved in decision-making, Tarka has appointed three high quality contractors who are all committed to providing employment opportunities in the Torridge district, while delivering the next four years of Tarka's Home Improvement and Maintenance Programme - worth more than £13 million of investment in Tarka's homes and communities. The chosen contractors are Pearce Construction of Barnstaple, Westcountry Maintenance Services of Torrington and Apollo Housing which has recently opened a a south west base. To introduce Tarka's tenants to the contractors and suppliers, Tarka has organised three Home Improvement Showcases where tenants can meet contractors, and view brand new kitchen, bathroom and heating system ranges. Tarka's partner suppliers, Jewson and Plumb Center, which offer Tarka tenants preferential rates will also have displays. Tarka's Repairs and Maintenance team, housing officers and tenant representatives will all be on hand to answer questions and give assistance.
