Fancy a fly or just a great family day out? Join South west Birdman 2012 at Ilfracombe Pier on Sunday, July 29.

WOULD-BE amateur aviators are being invited to dust off their plumage and take the plunge once again as the South West Birdman returns to Ilfracombe on Sunday, July 29.

The annual charity event requests gravity to take the afternoon off as wacky costumed contestants and some intriguing flying machines prepare to soar, glide or otherwise plummet from the Pier.

The Ilfracombe Round Table event is set as ever to a backdrop of stalls, games, fairground attractions and a stunning array of live music, headlined by irrepressible and much-loved West Country legends The Wurzels.

The entertainment and spectacle will go on throughout the day and all profits from the event will go towards local or national good causes.

It will include the return of Birdman’s Got talent, with the grand final on the Pier following arduous auditions earlier in the month. There will also be rock hard competition as the North Devon’s Toughest Towns contest returns for a second season too.
