Participants can abseil down Heanton’s St Augustine Parish Church spire to raise money for new chemo unit.
THERE is still time to sign up to a charity abseil which could see you scaling the 90ft St Augustine Parish Church spire in Heanton.
The event in aid of the Chemotherapy Appeal promises the ‘best abseil view in Devon’ and fundraising manager Ian Room is looking forward to taking part.
Ian said: “I’m looking forward to stepping backwards off the Church tower.
“I’ve always fancied a go at abseiling and this is a perfect opportunity to take part and raise funds towards the completion of our new chemotherapy unit.”
Julie Whitton, fundraising manager, is urging people to sign up to the abseil on Sunday, July 27, with a few spaces still available.
She said: “This event has proven very popular and we have lots of people wanting to take part.
“The view from the church tower is phenomenal and we believe it is probably the best abseil view in Devon.”
Building on the new unit has begun, with the aim to complete the project in March 2015 and open in April.
To register for the abseil download an entry and sponsor form from www.northdevon health.nhs.uk/fundraising or contact the fundraising team on 01271 311772.
Participants must raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship.
