RUFUS the police dog was able to indulge his "sweet tooth" after following a trail of wrappers to make three arrests following a smash and grab on an Ilfracombe confectioners.Officers were called to reports of a window being smashed in the High Street and were told three men had been seen reaching into a shop and helping themselves.A witness saw them run off towards Fore Street Three arrests were made in the Quay area. Meanwhile, Rufus and his nose were on the case - a trail of sweet wrappers and discarded chocolate bars was found leading from the shop to the point where the arrests were made.Two youths and a man, all from Ilfracombe, have been released on police bail, to return to Barnstaple Police Station on July 18.
