THE first ever GoldCoast Oceanfest women-only surf contest will be held at the Croyde festival on the weekend of Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22.A mixture of the top UK female surfers plus a number of North Devon's best also eager for glory will compete in the E-Comp Girls GoldCoast Open, presented by Bic Sport.Oceanfest has hosted many different surfing competitions in its 10 year history, from the Gromfest for up-and-coming youngsters to high profile international pro events and this latest addition will ensure the full range of formats and surfers has now been addressed.A unique format, competitors will all be required to surf only on the Bic Sport range of E-Comp - epoxy composite - new generation boards. Bic Sport has been at the forefront of epoxy technology for more than 10 years and no longer is polyester foam and fibreglass regarded as the only way to make a board. Today surfers enjoy a wider variety of new and innovative methods of surfboard construction providing much improved durability without extra weight - BIC Sport's E-Comp technique produces a board approximately 30 per cent more durable while being almost identical in stiffness and weight compared to a similar polyester surfboard. For entry details to the Bic Sport GoldCoast Open and the many other beach sports at Oceanfest, go to www.goldcoastoceanfest.co.uk
