A large number of enthusiastic Croyde Surf Lifesavers helped to clear areas of Croyde beach which cannot be reached by the owner’s tractor, picking up rubbish from the dunes and rocky gulleys.

With a donation from Parkdean for the event, this has kick-started the Croyde club’s year of fundraising and celebrating for their 50th anniversary.

Founded with only a handful of members as the North Devon SLS - which later split into two clubs Woolacombe and Croyde - the club now has more than 200 members and is raising funds for a surf lifesaving facility at Croyde that will benefit the whole community.

Fun events planned during the year include a summer ball, mega-board paddles, a triathlon for all ages, raffles, distance swims and, of course, the famous duck races and fayre.
