Support collection day to fill foodbank

Bideford Foodbank holding its first collection day at ASDA on Friday, July 13.

THE new Bideford Foodbank will be hosting its first Food Collection day at the Atlantic Village ASDA supermarket on Friday.

On Wednesday of next week (July 18) the project will officially open its new Distribution Centre at 21 High Street, Bideford at 10am.

The centre will be able to provide three days of emergency food to those identified as being in need by local front-line agencies.

But of course a foodbank needs food – and on hearing that stocks were required, ASDA contacted project developer Duncan Withall to offer its help.

Foodbank volunteers will be at the store throughout the day distributing shopping lists of food items needed for food boxes

Shoppers will be invited to buy an item from the list in addition to their normal shopping and donate it to the project.
