DEVON County Council is asking members of the public to consider donating their old photographs to the Westcountry Studies Library if they are no longer wanted.

Often during house clearances historical pictures are destroyed. The c has developed a donor card for householders to attach to their photos which instructs heirs or executors to give particular photographs to the library.

The card is available from all Devon Libraries, the Devon Record Office and the Devon and Exeter Institution.

The library already holds thousands of pictures, prints and drawings which are available for public use and it is hoped the card will make sure that valuable photographs are not lost.
