Students gather silver awards

STUDENTS at Kingsley School in Bideford have gathered silverware galore in the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.

Nineteen students have been presented with their silver award certificates after completion of four award categories - volunteering, physical, skills and expedition.

The expedition took the students to the Wye Valley in Wales, where they learned to navigate their way through the forests. They also had the opportunity to canoe, experience the thrill of one of the largest high ropes courses in Britain and even to fight off a swarm of hornets!

A number of the students will this summer be aiming for their gold awards, when they take part in a school expedition to the Picos Mountains in Spain.
