Representatives from more than 30 businesses and organisations visited the "Pie Day" Industry Day at North Devon College on Friday, to introduce students on construction, plumbing, electrical, decorating and vehicle courses to the latest innovations in new products, technology and methods. There was a series of presentations by visitors and college staff, on everything from local planning policy to legal requirements in construction and new systems.Students were hard at work in both plumbing and electrical skills competitions, while others were hard at work in workshops completing assessments in construction, electrical and decorating.Roy Imeson, business procurement co-ordinator at the college, said the day had seen some important visitors from the industries:"We have the platform here today to introduce them to education and the students to the products and new methods being used in the industries, which might be too new for them to have learned about during their courses," he said.
