A STUDENT needed seven stitches after a stranger threw a pint glass in his face in a Barnstaple street.

The 17-year-old victim was attacked in Boutport Street in the early hours of Sunday, July 5 in what police have described as a "serious assault".

The suspect is described as a white male between 20 and 25 years old of medium build. He is around 5ft 9in tall, clean shaven with short brown or black hair, with a local accent. At the time of the attack he was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
