THE Street Champions of Forches will be officially unveiled on Wednesday (March 3) in Barnstaple.
The introduction of the street Champions scheme will provide local residents with a clear and accountable system for access to local services, including the police and other agencies such as North Devon Homes, Forches Community Association, the Fire Service and local councillors.
"This will be achieved through volunteers who are willing to act as a point of contact for local residents to resolve a whole host of community issues, ranging from environmental and safety issues, to working to support vulnerable and elderly residents," said a police spokesman.
"Most importantly the scheme will be run by residents, for residents."
