TESCO is this week unveiling plans for its proposed new store at East-the-Water, Bideford, with two public exhibitions. The Pollyfield Centre at East-the-Water was the venue for the first exhibition yesterday (Tuesday) and another is being held on The Quay today. They detail plans and artist's impressions for the new store, which will be located on land alongside the East-the-Water industrial link road. The store will provide 25,000sq ft of retail space and Tesco will be looking to recruit up to 180 workers. It is planned that the store will be "set-down in the landscape" to help to soften its impact and that sustainable building methods will be used.Tesco also says that wildlife corridors will be maintained for species such as badgers and historic hedges along the site boundaries will be retained, with additional new tree and shrub planting. The Tesco exhibition trailer will be on the Quay in Bideford from 10am - 5pm today (Wednesday). There will be an opportunity to leave comments and opinions and discuss any queries or concerns with Tesco representatives.A full planning application will be submitted to Torridge District Council within the next few months.
